Last year was an interesting one for movies. Many great films were released, but also many that were complete trash. After thinking hard for the past few months, I am happy to bring you the official tier list for 2023.

10. Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny

Indiana Jones is an easy choice for worst movie of the year. The actor who portrayed Indiana Jones is so old and washed they had to recreate him with CGI for half the movie. The film was terrible.

9. Mission Impossible

This movie was not awful, but confusing to the point where I forgot the full title of the film. Overall it is just an average action film.

8. Asteroid City

An entertaing movie, but not memorable enough for me to give a high score.

7. Oppenheimer

The most overrated movie of all time. People claim that this movie is a "masterpiece" and piece of "art". Very few are brave enough to call it what it is: A complete waste of 3 hours. The movie never explains the plot clearly, but rather shows events happening without context. Overall, the film is ninety percent dialogue with barely any story. If the driector was smart, he would have ended it after they dropped the nuke instead of dragging it on for another hour.

6. The Super Mario Movie

The Mario Movie was very colorful, well animated, and enjoyable to watch. The downfall of this film was it's lack of proper storytelling. The characters come across as very shallow with zero character development. Mario and Luigi defeat Bowser very easily in the end, making the ending feel anti-climatic.

5. Five Nights at Freddy's

Five Nights at Freddy's was a very solid movie. It was mostly funny, especially when Matt Pat made an appearance. The only downfall to this film was the large amount of plot holes. Nothing made any sense, but it ended up adding to the charm in a strange way. I would definitely watch this movie again.

4. Cocaine Bear

An instant classic. Cocaine Bear was funny, thrilling, and featured groundbreaking special effects. The cocaine made for an interesting storytelling device, keeping me on the edge of my seat for the entire film.

3. The Meg 2

This movie started out slow, but developed into one of the most epic films of the decade. The Meg 2 features some of the all time greatest actors, including the incredible Jing Wu. The final battle scene is unforgettable, solidifying its spot as the third best movie of last year.

2. John Wick 4

The fourth John Wick film is  easily the best action movie of 2023. It follows the same formula of past John Wick films, and leaves on a perfect cliff hanger for John Wick 5.

1. Godzilla Minus One

When it comes to film of the year, there it only one reasonable choice. Godzilla Minus One is nothing short of a masterpiece. In my opinion, it was easily the best movie released in the past 20 years. Out of thirty Godzilla movies, Minus One is is easily one of the best.
